The input meter is supposed to go red - but not all of it. The input meter is red and the playback meter is green. The USB sdaptor should be connected to the "Tape Out" on the desk - this is a parallel output to the main out. You should be getting a level in Audacity of about -6dB on the r...

Re: Does not work on Vista; might it work on Windows 7
In the wiki Windows Vista OS, the last section: Specific help recording computer playback or streaming audio, 2nd paragraph, sort of says that some low-end Vista systems may not work with Audacity. Ah yes, found it. As it says: "Specific help recording computer playback or streaming audio"...

Re: Placing index markers when burning CD
so any tracks you try to "hide" in the middle of the disc are simply difficult to seek to. http://www.cdrfaq.org/faq03.html#S3-36 The exact opposite of what I would want for an audio CD :D I'd not heard of this "trick", and I have doubts as to how compatible the resulting CD wil...

Re: Placing index markers when burning CD
I always thought the gap at the front was the heads cranking back to find the first note of track 1. It's part of the red book specification: Minimum duration for a track is 4 seconds (including 2-second pause) Writing a CD in TAO (track at once) mode, it is not possible to avoid a gap between trac...

Re: Recording voice
Something you can try -
Open Preferences (from the Edit menu) and go to the "Quality" tab.
If the "sample rate is set at 44100, try changing it to 48000.
Close and restart Audacity.

Re: Placing index markers when burning CD
You can include additional data on CDs and still maintain standard audio CD compatibility, but not by inserting the audio in "negative time" or between index markers (I've never heard of either of those things). The usual method of adding additional data is to use "Mixed Mode". F...

I was working on a progect and I tried to save it and it didn't save. It silenced my whole project. I think we may have two problems here - one as the result of the other. Does your project play? If not, have you deleted, moved or renamed any of the files that you were using? (was the project entir...
