Re: Recording Problem
USB hubs are usually OK for connecting slow, non critical devices like keyboards or printers. If you loose the connection for 0.01 seconds with these devices you will probably not notice. For devices that need reliable, real-time, high speed data (such as sound cards or video capture) it is a differ...

The default setting for "software playthrough" is "Disabled" (not selected). That is how it should be set.

Re: HELP -- CPU not reading input
I know what it says in the Audacity wiki. I don't yet know what is set wrong on your computer. What I'm asking is what you have as the 3 default devices in the Audio" tab of the "Sounds and Audio devices" window. The "Sounds and Audio devices" window will look something like...

Re: Spectrum view colors
I think colours will always be ambiguous - there is no real reason that blue should indicate lower intensity than red. For a less ambiguous display you can switch to greyscale, but it doesn't look as pretty.

Re: Saving speeches - pipe directly to MP3
Audacity does not record as WAV or as MP3 - it records raw data in lots of little files. This uses lots of disk space and in Audacity there is no way round it (it's just the way that Audacity works). You may want to consider recording in mono - this will use half the disk space of a stereo recording...

Re: Recording Problem
Your computer is loosing sync with the USB data. Some things to try: Shut down all other programs - including anything running in the background on your task bar. If possible, avoid using any other USB devices at the same time. Try connecting to a different USB socket if you have one. Don't use a US...

Re: WAV files exported from Audacity are not bit-identical
1.4 has been skipped - we're now looking to the release of Audacity 2.0 next month. I think the truncating of the final sample may have been fixed some time ago. (perhaps you could test the current 1.3.9 version) The "problem" of dither being applied when Exporting 16 bit files still exist...
