Re: recording
I'm not certain, but I think they are planning to make Audacity 2.0 install without importing Preferences from earlier versions. (it will get round a lot of problems if they do).

Re: Saving speeches - pipe directly to MP3
Are there some good places (websites, FAQs, etc) to get a lot of info that I can read about recording sound in general? Yes, lots of them (Google is my friend). There is a magazine called "Sound On Sound" that has a lot of information about recording and lots of good equipment reviews. Th...

Re: Linking Track Labels and Audio Track;
what is the advantage of using your > "Tip: Rather than selecting "Generate menu > Silence" each time, you can make a copy of the silence (press Ctrl+C while the silence is selected) then paste it into the track with Ctrl+V." Lets say that we want to insert a 2 second silence in...

Re: Bass fade out. true mix
You mean that you want to fade out the bass frequencies on one track, or, you want to fade out the bass - as in one bass instrument, (such as a bass guitar or a bass synth line)? By the way I just realize Ive been posting in the wrong forum !! This is probably a general "Audio Processing" ...

Re: Newb: Easiest way to import w/specified sample rate?
OK, you've posted in the wrong part of the forum - I'll move it to the 1.3.x section. I've tried that file in several different versions of Audacity, and it works fine - I can't reproduce the problem. Perhaps it is a problem specific to the Fedora build. Do you know how to build programs from the so...

Re: Export Opens Metadata Editor
Yes we know - it's weird. Just click on OK to proceed to the Export dialogue.
You can switch off the Metadata Editor pop-up in: "Edit menu > Preferences > Import/Export.

Re: Need Audio Software With Cut List
I think that is about as close as Audacity gets. You can add markers as waxcylinder described to mark the start and end times of the bits that you don't want, then use "Edit menu > Labelled regions > Split". this will split the track into sections at the label marker positions (the label t...

You're using Audacity 1.2.x on Linux?
I'm using Audacity 1.3.9 on Ubuntu Jaunty and that file imports correctly, no problem.

Re: Mastering Vinyl
It doesn't surprise me if it does not work on Audacity 1.2.5.
Do you get the same error on Audacity 1.3.9, or does the plug-in work on this version?
