Re: Does not work on Vista; might it work on Windows 7

I don't like Vista, so I probably will get Windows 7 I'm not overly keen on Vista either, but from what I hear Windows 7 is pretty similar to Vista. If you want to try Linux, Ubuntu is a good one to start with - you can even run it directly from the CD without installing it. To do so, you need to b...

Re: Stereo Recording

I use USB stereo cable Are you sure that the cable is stereo? Are you sure that this cable works correctly? Make and model number of the cable? (if the cable is 2 mono devices side by side, then Audacity will only be able to record from one at a time. It must be a single stereo device for Audacity ...

Re: Windows 7 Laptop- bad sound :(

The laptop is an Acer 5738 Ooh, very similar to this one ;) The microphone is a Samson G-Track GM1U The most important thing about this for fault diagnosis is that it is USB - that makes a lot of difference. Re: Recording troubles

The microphone should not work in the headphone socket. My guess is that the socket is wired up incorrectly. If this is a socket on the front of your computer, have a look on the back of the computer and see if there are sound card sockets there.

Re: What Happened To The "Other" Audacity?

It has never been available in Audacity 1.2, so I'll move this to the 1.3 part of the forum.

Re: Audacity Lame problem mp3

I have just downloaded the recommended Audacity version 1.2.6 I wish they would change that. Audacity 1.2.6 is ancient - the new "stable" version is due out next month (Audacity 2.0) which is based on the current 1.3.9 version. I would recommend upgrading to 1.3.9, then look out for the r...
