Re: sound volume in mp3
Try importing both files back into Audacity. Do they look and play the same in Audacity, or is the WAV version still much louder?

Are you sure that it is not just the media player(s) playing them at different volumes?

Re: large files and converting as mp3
The WAV format specifies a maximum file size of 4GB. Quite a lot of older Windows (XP and earlier) computers had a file size limit of 2GB. I'm surprised that you managed to save a WAV file over 7GB. If you have a modern 64 bit computer it is perhaps possible to go beyond 4GB, or perhaps Audacity is ...

Re: Problem with Sampling rate
When you Export from Audacity, the sample rate of the exported audio is the same as the "Project Rate" at the time that you Export. If you record at 96kHz, but you want to Export at 44100, just click in the Project Rate box (lower left corner of main Audacity window) immediately before Exp...

Re: Can't figure out what I am doing wrong
When you record, do you get the wiggly blue line?
Are you Exporting as a WAV file? (you should).
See the "Tips" and "Tutorials" links at top of page for lots of good "getting started" stuff.

Re: "Software Passthrough Latency" "Analog to USB?"
Software Playthrough will always produce horrible latency - it's only really there for people recording from USB turntables and similar devices where there is no hardware route from the input device to the output device. Most sound cards will provide hardware playthrough, providing they are set up c...

Re: The VCF 303 ladspa plugin
Not really used this one. It triggers on the start of the selection. The interface does not tell you much - I think it was probably written for another LADSPA compatible program rather than Audacity, but it does make some interesting effects. Try running it on a few seconds of white noise to hear wh...
Re: mp3s
Can someone help me out? Probably not without more information. Which version of Windows are you using? Can you Export as WAV? How do you go about Exporting as MP3? (what buttons in what order?) Any error messages? Any other info? In Audacity Preferences (Edit menu > Preferences > File Formats) wha...
