That would suggest that it is a sound system problem rather than directly a problem with Audacity.
Are all of your drivers up to date? (particularly sound card and video card drivers?)

Re: Lousy MP3 export, crashes on Ubunbtu Karmic

Hi erippy, Audacity is an ideal program for doing what you are after, if you can get it working correctly. I'm still on Jaunty but I use the latest version of Audacity (1.3.10 compiled from the cvs source code) and it works splendidly. I've had problems with almost all of the Ubuntu builds, which I ...

Re: missing audio data blockfile

Hi GeBu, do you still have a project that produces the error in 1.3.9, but works in 1.3.7?
If so, how big is the projects? (size of the data folder).
Does the project use any audio files external to the project, or is the project self contained?

Re: missing audio data blockfile

If you think this is a bug in Audacity 1.3.9, would either of you like to help track it down so that it can be fixed?

Re: conflicts with other software

Skype requires exclusive access to the sound card. It does not play nicely with other audio software. To use other audio software, shut down Skype completely before launching the other software. Recording from Skype requires software that has been specifically designed for doing so, such as Pamela, ...

Re: Stereo Mix: Static & Other Issues...

I'm not sure what you mean by sound card mixer, The sound card (hardware) is controlled by a "driver" (software). The driver has one or more user interfaces that control the inputs, outputs and other features of the sound card. On Windows there is usually a loudspeaker icon near to the ti...

Re: HELP! Nothing is being recorded!

the plugs are green and pink Yes, that's a "normal" headset (not USB). Pink should be microphone and green headphones. Oh, and I tried it again, and this time it can record, but it's very very soft, Good, that's progress. when I've amplified it it sounds as if it's echo-ing from somewhere...

Re: Recording/Playback at a Specific dB level

Have a look in the Windows Control Panel in the "Sounds and Audio Devices" section. Look in the Audio tab and in "Recording > Volume", see if you can set the level there.
