Thanks for your input phlogiston08,
I think waxcylinder has covered all the points you raised.
Here is the current Audacity manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... =Main_Page
and here is the current theory of oxidation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redox

Audacity 1.3.9 and later should be able to handle Unicode characters correctly. However, it is strongly recommended that you stick to alpha-numeric characters (a-z A-Z 0-9), space, hyphen and underscore for file names. Re: Buzzing Sound
You probably can't remove it completely without causing other noticeable damage to the recording, but you can probably improve it. See here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Noise_Removal For Linux users there is a free program called "Gnome Wave Cleaner" which can do a similar...

Re: Frequency interpolation nyquist plugin
I've seen a few (and written a couple) of plug-ins for making repairs, but I've not seen one that uses frequency interpolation. Good luck with it, and let us know how you get on. (you know about the Audacity-Nyquist mailing list? http://n2.nabble.com/audacity-nyquist-f238279.html It's never very bus...

No. Audacity can be compiled with a debug option, but the standard builds don't have this.Robertjm wrote:Are there any debugging features I should turn on?

Re: Very slow rendering after zoom-in
Have you tried pulling up the Task manager to see what's running and if anything is using an undue amount of resources?
Is there noticeable disk activity while this is happening?

Re: File won't save?
What I may have done was unplug the mic before hitting stop on recording. If it's a USB microphone, that could easily be the problem as Audacity would suddenly be trying to run with no input device connected (and it won't like that at all). It is strongly recommended that you use the latest 1.3 ver...

Re: Urgent help needed
Try using the "Equalizer" effect to lower the "sss" frequencies. If you select the "sss" and use "Analyze > Plot Spectrum" you will probably see a marked peak somewhere around 3000 Hz (switch the Plot Spectrum "Axis" setting to "Log Frequency&qu...
