I disagree. This is a huge problem. If this is common, then it is impossible to monitor LEVELS in realtime recording, in the headphones.. This would mean that Audacity can not be used for anything but novice recording. In professional recording environments monitoring for the performer would have z...

You know how songs have a beat? Well, the beat echoes back about one second later, very loudly. Actually the whole track does that -.- And it messes up the existing beat. That sounds exactly like "Software Playthrough" is selected. Try changing the "software playthrough" setting...

Unfortunately I just noticed that the Nyquist prompt isn't even available in "Edit chains". Yes, shame isn't it :D Batch processing is still pretty rudimentary in Audacity. There are a few related "Feature Requests" listed here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Autom...
