Re: G711 raw file law-a law-µ

I don't know much about voip, so just your first question... Audio samples have values in the range of +/- 1 A wave that touches both extremes (+1 to -1) is "full scale" 0dB A wave that goes +0.5 to -0.5 is -6dB If you click on the track name there is a drop down menu where you can select ...

Re: Opening sound device help

If you are on Vista/Win7 you must first ensure that you have a recording device enabled. See here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Windows_Vista_OS#Using_the_Control_Panel_to_select.2Fenable_recording_devices Then go to: Edit menu > Preferences > Devices Set the recording and playback d...

Re: file conflict on install, linux

You may need to uninstall your previous version of Lame. There's no reason why you cannot have more than one version of Lame installed, but it seems that your package manager does not like it.

Re: Cant import WAV files created from Canon camera- SOLVED

Thanks for your input DRCO. Problems importing files from camcorders and similar devices are not uncommon. Re: discarding history

Yes, it also works in 1.2.6

There was at least one version of Audacity (possibly 1.3.7) that had problems with the Undo history so this may not work for users running non-current release versions of Audacity.

Re: discarding history

View menu > History
Select the number of Undo levels to discard and click on the "Discard" button.

Not surprisingly, this action cannot be undone.

Re: pre-recorded project

Your file is most probably in an unsupported file format. If you are on Windows there is a free program called SUPER by erightsoft that can convert most media formats to other formats. If you convert the file to WAV format you will be able to edit it in Audacity. Audacity does not support video form...

Re: Program activation

You've downloaded the wrong program.

The Sourceforge website is advert supported and I suspect that you have downloaded an advertised product instead of Audacity. Audacity does not require registration.

What operating system do you have? Windows Vista?

Re: Nyquist Plugin Modification Needed for SilenceMarker.ny

Nice one triola ;) Having seen your other posts regarding your modified plug-in, I think it is necessary to point out that for the usual "Export Multiple" method of splitting tracks (as described here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Splitting_recordings_into_separate_tracks )...
