Most likely Signed 32-bit PCM or 32-bit float. As DVDdoug wrote, ask the client for clarification.

Ensure the Scarlett is connected before you launch Audacity.

Lame is built into Audacity 2.4.2. No additional download is required for MP3 support. MP3s that have APE tags are not currently supported in Audacity 2.4.2. I presume that you get the same error if you try to launch Audacity with: open -a audacity Unfortunately I don't know much about troubleshooting on macOS. For me, Audacity 2.4.2 just works on Catalina. Is there anything unusual or non-standard about your Mac? What audio devices do you have? Were you...

The quoting thing was a bug in Audacity. It has been fixed for the next Audacity release.

It sounds as if there may be a bug in Ableton. We have one other report of this issue: viewtopic.php?p=402713#p402713
I'm guessing that you are referring to the sample rate. If so, then it should be either 48000 or 44100.
