Re: discarding history
Oh I agree. I'm not saying it's a "good feature", just that nearly loosing all your data is (arguably) better than "bang, crash, all gone". It's a bit problematic for applications to monitor disk space because they cannot be fully aware of everything else that your computer is do...

Re: Stuffy sound on high notes
Make sure that you are recording at 44100Hz 16 bit or higher (Edit > Preferences > Quality)
Try changing the settings on the Behringer, or using the Equalizer effect to boost the treble.
Export as WAV format rather than MP3.

Re: Records only 0.6 secs on Ubuntu 9.04
88/24 is a very non-standard format.
Try all combinations of sample rate/bit depth (including 32 bit).
The difference between 96kHz 24bit and 48kHz 32bit are very small - similar to driving a car at 120mph vs 150mph - both are substantially higher than the speed limit.

Please read the small print - I doubt that you have Audacity 1.2.x installed - if you have, you need to upgrade. If you have 1.3.x installed, please post in the Audacity 1.3.x part of the forum. If you are using a USB turntable, disconnect it and reboot - if the sound does not come back on automatic...

Re: Metadata for wav's.
Metadata is only supported for WAV files in recent 1.3.x versions of Audacity, not 1.2.x. id3 tags (metadata) is not a clearly defined standard and different programs read and write id3 data slightly differently. Audacity 1.3.x attempts to support the most commonly used metadata. Flac is a lossless ...

Re: How do I get my Linux program
To boot from CD your computer must be set (in BIOS) to try and boot from the CD before trying the hard disk. This is called the "Boot Order". If you have one CD that boots correctly, then the Boot Order must be set correctly, and that then leaves one possible reason why it will not boot fr...

Download the ZIP version (for Windows) from this page: http://lame.buanzo.com.ar Extract the contents of the zip file into your Audacity folder (which is in "Program Files"). Open up Preferences (from the Edit menu) and on the "File Formats" page, click on the "Find Library&...
