And how long is it really?

Which version of Audacity are you using?

Re: Get the most volume, and perceived volume, from audacity

Use a "dynamic compression" effect. Audacity 1.3.10 includes the SC4 compressor which is pretty good.
Set the attack time as fast as possible and the release time to around 50 ms. Set the compression amount to maximum. Personally I don't like that kind of sound, but each to their own.

Re: ! File speeding/slowing down on its own.

Check the sample rates. If you are using Audacity 1.2.x, all clips in a track must have the same sample rate or they will play at the wrong speed (the difference between 44.1kHz and 48kHz is around 9%). In Audacity 1.3.10 you can mix files of different sample rates on the same track.

Re: No save as option - file formats- in preferences menu

The first thing is that I don't think that you are using Audacity 1.2.x - looks more like 1.3.7'ish - if you click on "Help > About Audacity" it will tell you the version. Audacity "Saves" in it's own format - "Audacity Project Files" - these contain multi-track informa...

Re: decreasing bass level

Yes you can.
Use the "Equalizer" effect -
select the track, go to the effects menu and click on"Equalizer" and set the sliders on the left (left is bass, right is treble) at a lower level.

I'd recommend you try Audacity 1.3.10 - it's really good :D

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 & Windows 7

How do i turn back into window XP from window 7? You will probably need to reformat your hard drive (unless anyone knows any tricks to avoid having to do so). Reformatting your hard drive will eradicate all data on the disk - so don't do it if there is any data on the disk that you want to keep. Mo...

Are you sure that the difference is not just the difference between your headphones and your speakers?

Re: Program Shutdown

I think the main issue to address here is Audacity crashing when you click stop. I would recommend updating Audacity to version 1.3.10 Unless the lost recording is something unique that you can't live without, I would be strongly tempted to forget about it and make a new recording (manual recovery c...
