Re: Trouble with Labels...

This issue is now hopefully fixed in the source code - if you'd like to test it out the fix should make it's way into the "Nightly build" within the next couple of days. The Nightly build is available here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... tly_Builds

Re: Audacity stops recording after few seconds

Do the developers ever brows Linux sound related forums? I've no idea what they do in their spare time, but some of the developers use Linux. Google "audacity records half second" returns 2.5 million hits. Is that particularly relevant? "windows bug" returns 69,900,000 hits in 0...

Re: I'm importing a song, but the AIFF file is HUGE!

The actual recording quality is almost entirely down to the hardware you are using, and of course the condition of the records. The noise reduction in Audacity is not the best in the world - For Linux there is Gnome Wave Cleaner which is really good, waxcylinder regularly recommends another program ...

Re: WMA Import - possible or not?

Audacity cannot import files if they have DRM protection (anti-copy), but it should be able to import WMA files that are not copy protected (with ffmpeg installed).

Re: Manual

Currently you will just print a page at a time from your web browser. There may be a pdf version at some time in the future (I think there was one before the manual was thoroughly updated and revised), but the full manual is very big so you are probably better to just print those pages that you need...

Re: ! File speeding/slowing down on its own.

It may help to make a persuasive argument for upgrading if you let your IT department know that Audacity 1.3.10 can be run without "installing" it.

Re: Problem with Recording

Open your sound card mixer (typically a loudspeaker icon near the time/date - alternatively in the Windows Control Panel in the "Sounds and Audio Devices" section). What has probably happened is that your recording input has changed from "Mic" to "Stereo Mix". You will ...

Re: ! File speeding/slowing down on its own.

You may not be aware, but each time an audio file is encoded to MP3 format there is a loss in sound quality. This loss in quality is cumulative and cannot be repaired. It is strongly recommended that you work from uncompressed audio formats whenever possible. Edit a file > Export as MP3 (slight qual...

Re: I'm importing a song, but the AIFF file is HUGE!

But is it possible to go from the LP straight to a compressed AAC file or to convert the uncompressed AIFF file to a typical 4 or 5MB compressed AAC file? Not with Audacity. The possibilities for editing when using compressed audio formats are far too limited, which is why Audacity (an audio editor...
