Re: Error: Can't create a file, If it already exists.
OK, I see the problem (though the issue was a little obscured by posting it in the Audacity 1.2 part of the forum). If you previously had Audacity installed in the directory "C:Program FilesAudacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode)" and had installed an earlier version of the manual, and then install th...

Re: Old bug from 1.3.9 returns in 1.3.10 win beta
Confirmed, though there may be a good reason why the default directory is set to the Modules directory (perhaps so that modules work?) I'll see what I can find out. There are a couple of options in the mean time: 1) Explicitly set the directory with (setdir "full path to directory") in you...

Re: Stuffy sound on high notes
When I record in Audacity, I turn off one of the pedals and choose an effect, press record and it comes out "stuffy" when I play it afterwards. How are you listening to the guitar while you are recording? What are your headphones plugged into? Which version of Audacity are you using? (Loo...

Re: Noob to trying to make a live performance tolerable
Ah yes, thanks Trebor. Unfortunately this is not going to work. That effect takes existing high frequencies and creates additional (higher) harmonics from them. It assumes that the input sound already has some high frequency harmonics which it then "enhances". In the case of a low sample r...

Re: Anyone know of any virtual drums to use with Aud?
Yes - Hydrogen http://www.hydrogen-music.org/ I use it with Jack http://jackaudio.org/ It's a bit of a pain setting up the routing (virtual audio cables provided by Jack) because Audacity does not support Jack very well and you have to put Audacity in Record-Pause mode so that it's input ports are a...

Re: Compiling Audacity with Asio
I don't understand all the ins and outs of the license, but the license details are available if you Google for "steinberg asio license". Guides for building Audacity from source code are available here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Developer_Guide#Platform_Specific_Guides ...

Your questions have been clear and well formed so please don't feel embarrassed about being new to working with digital audio. Familiarity with the terminology will come as you gain experience and learn more (we are all learning - audio is one of those wonderful things where the more you know, the m...

Re: File's duration time longer than the recording time?
the audio bit rate is 32000 as a compressed mp3 32kbps? when I export the file as a WAV, the duration in Preview is about the correct time and the bit rate is 705600. That's 44.1kHz 16 bit mono. I suspect that the MP3 has been encoded with VBR (variable bit rate). VBR uses more "bits per secon...

Re: Stuffy sound on high notes
I don't know if this have anything to do with this, but when I try to use some diferent sound editing software the sound doesn't come out propper neither. Well that could be a clue. Perhaps if you describe (in detail - remember I can't see over your shoulder) how you have the equipment set up, and ...
