Re: Version 1.3.10Beta not recording
With 1.2.6, however, the Effect menu remains greyed out, even after I've pressed the yellow Stop button. In Audacity 1.2.x you also have some audio selected (either a whole track, several tracks, or part of a track). In Audacity 1.3.x, by default (can be changed in Preferences), if you use an effec...

In Audacity 1.3.10 set the following in the "Devices" section of Preferences: Host: Windows Direct Sound Device / Playback: Logitec USB Device / Recording: Logitec USB Channels: 1 (mono) In the "Recording" section of Preferences: Overdub: yes (selected) Software Playthrough: No ...

Re: Panning left to right
For the manual method (very similar to what you are currently doing) you can use just 2 mono tracks. (This is all for Audacity 1.3.10 - if you are still using the 1.2.6 or an old 1.3.x version I would recommend that you update). Start with 1 mono track and Normalize/Amplify to 0dB Duplicate the trac...

If you require commercial support I would suggest that you purchase commercial software. Free open source software is invariably community supported.

Re: How do I burn my recording to a CD
For a free CD burner for Windows I would recommend CDBurnerXP http://cdburnerxp.se/
I've used it on many Windows computers and it's great. It is full featured, supports audio CD, data CD, DVD's, TAO and much more, while still being simple to use.

Re: No sound during recording
Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O > Hardware Playthrough. Audacity on Windows / Linux does not have that option. Hardware playthrough is automatic unless software playthrough is selected. Software Playthrough should ONLY be selected (Windows/Linux) when using hardware that does not support hardware pl...

This will increase rapidly if you do any editing due to the "Undo" files.
Re: Afrikaans
Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.10 If that does not immediately fix the issue; Close Audacity Find the hidden file "audacity.cfg" and open it in a text editor. Delete everything except the first line"NewPrefsInitialized=1" Then save it Restart Audacity The default location for "auda...

Re: Popping NOT due to clipping
I think Windows Sound Recorder records at a maximum of 44100Hz 16bit. Audacity has a higher quality default setting of 44100/32.
Try going to "Edit menu > Preferences > Quality" and setting the default setting to 44100 Hz / 16 bit.

Re: multi track with Focusrite Safire PRO 10i/o?
I have no idea what happens to the metering during multi-track. Nobody's ever gotten it to work. I think the truth is that those that have the hardware to do it and have it working successfully have not come to the forum to tell everyone else. The vast majority of people on the forum are here becau...
