I've just read on the developers mailing list that one of the developers is currently working on this issue. It's not been fixed yet, but if you want to track the issue, keep an eye on this thread: http://n2.nabble.com/Bug-with-filtering ... 36442.html

Re: Searching for the same/similiar "waveform" within an aud
It is technically possible as long as the occurrences of the repeated word are sufficiently similar. Audacity can't do it, and I know of no other programs that can do it. Basically you are talking about "voice recognition". If you have a voice recognition program and an audio editing progr...

Re: Hearing only left channel whilst recording
There will probably be a loudspeaker icon in the bottom right of the Desktop (near the time/date), and perhaps even 2 loudspeaker icons. This/these give access to your sound card settings. Check that Skype is not running. Check that you don't have one of the sound card settings set "panned"...

Re: Overdubbing
Are you using a high quality sound card, some cheap and nasty on-board sound, or something in-between?
Is the timing out by a consistent amount, or gradually drifting?
What's your operating system?

Re: New Install - Menus are full of question marks!
Does it not seem strange that the text in that window is a mixture of Russian and English? I'm not sure what the language is, but I don't think it's Russian. Not all of the translations are complete - any parts that do not have a translation will be displayed in the default language (American Engli...

You're welcome, and thanks for the screenshot, that could be useful for others.
.... Oh yes, and stick with the 1.3 version, it's a big improvement on the old 1.2.6.

Re: Overdubbing
I'm trying to adjust the input source on the mixer toolbar, but it is greyed-out and I can't change anything. That's just a shortcut really, and often did not work in the old 1.2 version of Audacity. (it still does not always work in the current 1.3 version, but it works a lot more often than the o...

Re: New Install - Menus are full of question marks!
This is what I am getting when I follow the instructions in the previous post. I clicked preferences and I got this window: [img] There is no line that I can see that would be a "third in from the right" on this menu. Unless I'm mistaken, you are not using version 1.2, which would explain...

This has been a problem in a couple old versions of Audacity and has been fixed. Upgrade to the latest 1.3 version

Re: Overdubbing
It's almost certainly a sound card set-up issue.
You need to have your sound card set to record from the input that you are using (mic or line) and not "Stereo Mix".
