Re: Edit oversize wav

If you've still got the Audacity project, open it and select part of the track and use "Export Selection" from the File menu. If you've only got the WAV file, then try Importing it back into Audacity and doing the same. You may or may not be lucky - I don't know how Macs react to WAV files...

Re: How to burn CD with song tiles?

Audio CDs do not support metadata as such. There is a way too add some track information which is to use "CD text". This is not strictly part of the original audio CD format and it is not supported by some CD writers.

Re: Help with Tags

1.3.0 by the looks of it. 10 releases behind the current version - an update would be in order.

Re: the use of autotune in audacity

It makes me cringe when I hear white kids from the East End of London talking as if they were black kids from the Bronx when they've not been within 3000 miles of the place. Do they really have so little self belief that they need to pretend? "Anarchy" comes from a Greek word meaning "...

Re: Need help editing

If you want to record from the end of a track, use "SHIFT+R" If you want to "splice" into the middle of a track, just do it on a new track - this will allow you to carefully align the pieces and if necessary edit or cross-fade them to get a seamless splice. (It also prevents you ...

Re: removing silence

You can shrink them down to about 1 millisecond using the "Truncate Silence" effect.
To remove the silences completely you need to do it manually, but the "Silence Finder" (in the Analyze menu) will help you to quickly locate the silences.

Re: numbering sequence with over 100 tracks

In Audacity 1.3.10 (this may not be available in Audacity 1.2)

When you add the labels, number the labels:
001
002
003
...
...
010
011
012
...
999

Then when you Export Multiple, select the "Name files" > "Using Label/Track Name"

For the benefit of some of our older readers :D "It has nothing to do with singing, he's an MC/rapper .. Friend, I'm in exactly the same position. I don't think I have the right voice but I recorded one good take the other day and it gave me faith that I might actually be able to do this. All y...

Hi jadmaldonado, Don't be put-off or upset by Koz's terse comments, we do understand that not everyone is familiar with using forums, but I hope that you can also understand that at times it can be pretty frustrating for those people that are giving their time to try and help other users. A few guid...

Re: my involved steps of LP to digital

Personally I would have pressed STOP after the first side and then Exported the file as a WAV. Working on long tracks can use an enormous amount of disk space. 1 hour recorded at 32 bit stereo will use about 1.5GB, and this will rapidly increase as you process the recording, so you will quickly have...
