Re: Attempt to initialize effect failed
I think the problem is primarily due to updating from a very old version (GVerb was removed several years ago). I'd suggest that you try resetting Audacity. To do that, you need to shut down Audacity, then open (in the Windows File Manager) the hidden folder: C:\Users\<your user name>\Application Da...

Re: Audacity 2.4.2 - Folder location
The instructions didn't say anything about building in a different folder? It doesn't matter much where you build it. I build in "~/Sourcecode/audacity/" If it builds correctly without errors, then "sudo make install" command will copy the build to the correct system locations (...

Re: Time display on a track
There isn't such a feature. Even if there was, it could only work for a new, unedited recording. For imported tracks there is no way to determine when the recording was made, and even for a new recording it would only work until you make the first edit. The closest to what you are requesting is this...

Re: WAY TO FILL IN SPACE BETWEEN TRACKS??
Assuming that you are using Audacity 2.4.2 (if not, you will need to update to get this feature) "Edit menu > Preferences > Import / Export" Ensure that "Ignore blank spaces at the beginning" is NOT selected. Empty space at the start of the track will then be automatically render...

Re: Attempt to initialize effect failed
Hard limiter and Gverb are no longer included in Audacity. "Hard Limiter" has been replaced by a much better "Limiter" https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/limiter.html "Gverb" has been replaced by a much better "Reverb" https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/reve...

Re: Mixing console plugin suggestions?
Audacity has a "Mixer Board that has "pan" and "level" sliders for each track.
Alternatively you could use the "pan" and "gain" track sliders: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/aud ... html#panel

Re: Waveform plot for sine wave
Hmmm, I would say it goes even much deeper than that - it comes from the First Principle! Wikipedia defines "first principle" as: "a basic proposition or assumption that cannot be deduced from any other proposition or assumption." Which basic proposition are you referring to? Ho...

Re: Audacity 2.4.2 - Folder location
It will certainly be less confusing if you uninstall the repository version before installing 2.4.2.

Re: Step Sequencer?
How much would I have to donate to get a step sequencer (for drum tracks) added to a future version? Audacity doesn't work like that. Audacity is developed, documented and supported by volunteers. "Donations" are voluntary / optional and are "no strings attached" support for the...
