Re: Annoying export problem/staticky sound removal.

If you're using Vista, try turning down the playback volume for the program that is playing (and distorting) the sound.

Re: "Software playthrough" in Beta version

Thanks, Steve, but I don't know what you mean by "configuring vac." Please advise. winnjama I meant "configuring Virtual Audio Cable". I'm going back a long way and many of those old memory cells have suffered from years of rock'n'roll living, but from what I remember you could ...

Re: Mic Interface questions

1. Sting together enough adaptors to use my Shure 57 mic going from XLR to 1/2-in TRS to 1/8-inch directly into the mic-in jack on the laptop Main problem here is that the microphone inputs are most (all?) laptops are very poor quality. 2. Go with a USB mic of some sort Large diaphragm USB condense...

Perhaps it may be better in the long run for the problem to remain visible for now (and increase the incentive for a proper fix).

Re: my involved steps of LP to digital

If it's an internal drive then it will probably be fast enough (as long as it is not badly fragmented).
You don't actually need to move Audacity, just set the temporary folder to a folder on the D: drive in Audacity's Preferences, and if you Save any projects, save them to the D: drive.

Re: Gapless burning

Stevethefiddle, do you have a link to the latest Windows build that fixes this bug in 1.3.10? I'd assumed that the current nightly had the fix, but I've checked and it hasn't. I've asked the developers if a Windows version with the fix could be made available http://n2.nabble.com/Export-Multiple-Bu...

Re: Way to predict bass boost which won't clip

If you use a recent version of Audacity 1.3 and have the sample format set to 32bit, Audacity will not clip the audio even if it goes over 0dB, so if you inadvertently boost the signal too much you can use the Amplify effect (with a negative amount) to bring the peak level back down to below 0dB. (T...

Re: FFT Analysis

-- 18dB is half and double volume to your ears We still disagree on that one :) Try editing that on a percent scale. What's that 0.0001%? Something like that. Awkward! Yes indeed, but sometimes useful to know, which is why I made a little plug-in to work it out for me. To use the plug-in, extract t...

Strange indeed, but are you really using Audacity 1.2.x?
