Re: Time remaining for recording

This part of the forum is for comments and questions about the forum (example - "could we have some less ugly smilies") If you can tell us what operating system you use (example Windows XP SP2) and which version of Audacity (look in "Help > About Audacity") then I'll move it to t...

Re: setting markers bug in 1.3.10?

Confirmed on Linux with Audacity 1.3.10 beta and 1.3.11 alpha.
It appears to be the same if you use any single letter for play/stop.
I'll put in a bug report.

Cross Fade

It has bothered me that the "Cross Fade" effect does NOT do what it says on the tin. Also, using the Envelope tool to produce fades and cross-fades is fiddly and time consuming. When fading out a track I often prefer to start the fade gradually, then more rapidly, and finally more graduall...

Re: Multi-Channel Simultaneous Recording Release

But in Audacity I can only choose inputs 1/2, 3/4 etc one pair at a time. No chance I can open all 8 and record 8 tracks simultaneously. That's a limitation of Audacity with some multi-track hardware. The reason is that some hardware uses multiple 2 channel drivers rather than a real multi-channel ...

Re: DVD-Audio

I use SUPER by erightsoft for all my format conversions. It's a real pain to download it (there are guides on Google of how to download SUPER) but it's free and will handle most media formats (including video). It will not decode DRM protected files (copy protection).

Re: how put MP3 drum samples together for a track?

Audacity is perhaps more about modifying existing tracks rather than developing or compiling them? Audacity works well compiling tracks, but is rather awkward when dealing with very short sections such as beats. Personally I would like to see an enhancement to the "Time Selection" and the...

Re: Lead In Measure

The most accurate way is to play the track with watch in hand and count the number of beats in 1 minute (or in 30 seconds and double the number)

or is it

OGG -> decoder -> DAC -> ADC -> Audacity.
In all cases that I have tested it is via DAC > ADC.
When using a typical on-board sound card this introduces noticeable noise (often it's rather a lot of noise).

Re: CRASHING

I cant rember where but I recall reading that version 1.3.10 was able to accept a WMA file, Yes it can, but you need to install ffmpeg http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#installffmpeg but you can't import files if they are DRM protected (copy protected). If...

Re: how put MP3 drum samples together for a track?

What is this looper or music generator that would be better than Audacity for patching drum loops together? Do you have something in mind? I'd guess that Koz is thinking "Garage Band". For Windows there is Mixcraft which is very similar. If the drum samples are the exact right length for ...
