A "buzz" ! That's quite an understatement. The noise is far too much to be able to do much in Audacity. The best I can manage is using "Gnome Wave Cleaner", but that's a Linux program. The good news is that you can get Gnome Wave Cleaner and Linux for free (open source software)....

Have you set the default sample rate in Audacity Preferences? (Edit menu > Preferences > Quality)

You may need to reinstall ffmpeg

I'm on Linux so I'm not sure that this will be exactly the same for you:

To set the timer duration to 15 minutes starting immediately:
1) Shift+T (Timer Record)
2) 000015 (15 minutes)
3) Enter. (OK)
