I use a Behringer UCA-202. It's line level only (but that's what you want) and the noise level with no input signal is around -90dB which is as good as you get with a 16bit sound card.
Current price is around £23 GBP / $25 US

Re: Mp3 and Wav exports have and annoying feeback sound

Checked out those clips and agree with Bill, the samples are white noise. The peak on the left of the left side of the spectrum is due to a bit of DC offset. The noise level of the first sample posted is below -60dB which on an MP3 should be hardly noticeable. I suspect that the "feedback noise...

Re: Audacity expert for editing required.

I didnt see a job board here? Because there isn't one. ;) who can apply some polish to some MP3 business interviews. Sound engineers do not like to work on MP3 files because the MP3 encoding reduces the sound quality of the recording. Encoding to MP3 should be the last step in the production. The u...

Re: Disk space remaining

The amount of free disk space should relate to the amount of free disk space on the disk that you are recording to, and the "Quality" settings that you are using. If you are recording in stereo at 44100Hz 16 bit, a 1 hour recording will use about 600MB. Recording 1 hour at 48000Hz 32bit st...

I strongly suspect that the quality of that microphone is not very good.
Please do not recommend products that you do not use or do not have good reason to recommend otherwise you will be misleading people.

Yes - zoom in close on the beginning of a tone, select the first tiny bit of the tone and apply a fade-in.

Re: Edit the audio in a WMV or FLV video clip?

The way that you would normally do it is to edit the audio in an audio editor (such as Audacity) and Export for Audacity as a WAV file. You would then open the video in a video editor and import the edited audio file. If the only editing of the audio that you want to do is to adjust the volume, most...

Audacity does not do real time processing. There is a feature request for real-time processing and it is currently the second most voted for feature with 49 votes - would you like me to add your vote to make it up to 50? http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Feature_Requests#Highest-rated Per...

Re: Recording levels

The recording level sliders in Audacity only work IF (big "if") the sound card drivers support it. For sound card drivers that do not respond to Audacity you need to adjust the levels using the sound cards own interface - you can access that through the Windows Control Panel (look in "...

Re: MIDI to USB convertor

Audacity does not record MIDI. It is an AUDIO recorder. MIDI and audio are not the same thing.
