Re: How do I "crop to selection"?

but my selection does not appear to fully register as a selection. You have a "time selection" but no "track selection". The easiest way to make a selection is to simply click and drag on the waveform. There are also other ways: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audacity_selec...

Re: recording four simultaneous tracks?

Recording more than 2 tracks at a time requires an audio interface that supports multiple input channels, AND multi-channel Windows drivers. Unfortunately, many 4 channel audio devices only provide 2 channel Windows drivers, and require ASIO for recording multiple channels. Audacity cannot be shippe...

However when it begins to play, it is displayed with -(negative) time (2 min, 30 seconds) at the beginning of the song.
Where are you seeing this "negative time"?

Re: MP3 Decoding failed: Lost sychronization

the MP3 file was not corrupted. Audacity 2.4.2 is very fussy about MP3s. They have to strictly conform to the MP3 standard, otherwise Audacity will refuse to import them. This increased strictness was to fix a problem with non-standard files being misidentified. The next version of Audacity will be...

Re: Audacity 2.4.2: build failure on antix 4.9.160

That's good. It's reporting that you do have SSE.
Which exact version of Antix are you using? I'll try installing it in Virtualbox and see if Audacity will build for me.

Re: Time Shift Macro

You can't do it with the Time Shift Tool because that requires mouse interaction. What you need to do instead is to make a Macro that will select the audio that you want to move, Cut or Split Cut, select where you want to move it to, then paste.

Perhaps pages 25 and 33 of the Soundcraft user manual will help.

Re: Catalina microphone issue with Audacity

I'm running a soundcraft Signature 22 mixer into Mojave 10.5 I've split your question from the thread where you posted as this clearly has nothing to do with Catalina (the subject of the original topic). I'm running a soundcraft Signature 22 mixer into Mojave 10.5, Audacity can see it on drop down ...

Re: I’m trying to import an audio file, but it keeps getting clipped

Both VLC and the Windows sound system have playback effects - if any of those effects are enabled they will "enhance" the sound (though not always in a good way). On the other hand, Audacity plays the audio exactly as it is, without any playback enhancements (though it is still possible fo...
