Re: No-destructive editing?
I have found a gtk-tool that let you do non-destructive simple editing called mp3splt-gtk. Quite ugly and a bit unintuitive but it does the job. That's what I use. With the graphical interface installed I found it very easy (intuitive) to use - (personal taste?) - but yes, it does the job (works wi...

Re: crash on start
(Disclaimer - I'm not an expert on this sort of thing.)
The errors seem to be related to the graphics card - can you update your graphics card drivers?
You may need to use proprietary drivers for the graphics card.

Re: lengthen silences
How about burning to CD. Some CD burning programs (such as Nero) allow you to put silences of user defined length between each track (or you can pause the CD player). Most CD burning programs will insert a 2 second pause between tracks by default. Limitations: The maximum number of tracks on an audi...

Re: Live radio stream query - urgent advice needed
The site seems to work better in Chrome than in Firefox, worse in Opera and very poor in Safari (tested on Linux). I suggested Firefox because that website is rammed with adverts, flash scripts and other annoyances which can easily be blocked using Adblock Plus and Flashblock. Chrome does not have t...

Re: Recording Question
By far the best way to extract music from a CD and save as a file is to use a "Ripper" program. A very good free one is C-Dex http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/

It's come up a few times over the last couple of years and in each case it was related to graphics card drivers.

Re: 2 projects, 300 songs. Most effective way to tag properl
Yes, that's your best bet. Tagging in Audacity is OK for occasional use, but there's no way I'd use it for 300 songs.BrutalAl wrote:Or is my best bet to simply use a software designed specifically for tagging (i.e. have them tagged after exported)?

Re: lengthen silences
The quickest way to do that is to Generate silence for the first marker, then copy that silence (Ctrl+C). Once you have copied the silence, you can paste it by simply clicking where you want it at pressing Ctrl+VIrish wrote:However, you will have to go through manually increasing the length of the silences.
