Re: Shortened WAV, still exports at original length
Confirmed, there appears to be a bug in Audacity 1.2.6 when Exporting 8 bit WAV files that are less than 5 seconds long. Another strange thing is that Audacity 1.3 does not recognise it as a "supported file type". Audacity will however import it correctly, but when browsing for the file it...

Re: Mike input mystery
Mike level shows graphically in Audacity but signal won't record, nor does it record in Windows Sound Recorder (XP). However the click of the mike switch being turned on and off records and plays back. Are you sure that it is not just recording really really quietly? As a test. try recording someth...

Re: Shortened WAV, still exports at original length

Re: crash on start
This is Linux: there are no proprietary drivers for the graphics card. I noticed that you're on Linux. I'm not sure if you're thinking that proprietary graphics drivers are not available for Linux at all, or if you mean that proprietary drivers are not available for your particular graphics card. B...

Re: Cutom Metadata Template
Does Audacity 1.2 use MetaData? I thought that came in with Audacity 1.3. In Audacity 1.3.11 (available here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Nightly_Builds ) you can open the MetaData Editor from the File menu and enter the data that is common to all of the files. "Template > Save...

Re: Shortened WAV, still exports at original length
The bug in Audacity 1.3.10 that causes "Export Multiple" and "Export Selection" to increase the length of the exported audio to the next 5 second mark applies only to Export Selection and Export Multiple. It does not affect normal Export. (It is fixed in Audacity 1.3.11 http://wi...

If it is a USB turntable you do not plug it into the sound card - see here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... uter_or_CD

Re: lengthen silences
I've hacked the code of the Silence Finder plug-in so that it will insert additional silence instead of creating labels. This is a "quick 'n' dirty" hack rather than a polished piece of code, so there are a few limitations: 1) probably requires Audacity 1.3.7 or later (only tested on 1.3.1...

Re: Live radio stream query - urgent advice needed
I seem to think that I should download and use the 2nd one called just "IE Tab", and not the 1st one? I've used one of these on a different machine to what I'm using now. Sorry, I can't remember the exact name, but it worked well. Uninstalling Add-ons is easy so you could try one then the...

Re: removing vocals ripped off of youtube
i tried case one, vocal is still there. That method removes mono sound that is panned to the centre of the mix. It works in such cases because that sound (hopefully but not necessarily the vocal) is identical in both left and right channels, so inverting one channel and mixing with the other will &...
