Re: Really simpe tone control plug-in
Thanks for testing it Bill. I tried running the effect on a 43-minute selection. With Normalize to -3 dB it hung up after 37 seconds (progress bar and time displays stopped updating), there was a flurry of disk activity, then maybe a minute later Audacity crashed. Sounds like it ate your RAM. Was th...

Re: How do you turn on the mixer tab?
how do you record with Audacity 1.2.6 in Vista, SP2? Audacity 1.2.6 is rather old now and does not run well on Vista. Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.11 from here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Nightly_Builds See here for help running Audacity on Vista: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php...

Re: Shortened WAV, still exports at original length
Windows 98??? The one I originally had was the current stable release. ??? Hmmm yes, we keep complaining that the description is a bit misleading. Version 1.2 was released in 2004 and the last update to Audacity 1.2 was in May 2008 (Win '98 is another of Koz's little jokes). Development on the 1.3 ...

Re: measuring frequency of a resonating wineglass
Do tell more...
How are you making the glass resonate?
How are you recording the sound/vibration?
Do you know how to take a screenshot on your computer? If so, paste a screenshot of the spectrum analysis.

Re: 1.3.10 Export Selection as mp3 saves wrong duration
The ZIP version of Audacity does not require installing, it just runs from wherever to unzip it. If you want to replace your 1.3.10 version with the new 1.3.11 version, just find the Audacity folder in /Program Files/ and delete all of the files and sub folders that are in it. Then unzip the 1.3.11 ...

Re: Mike input mystery
I have an idea what it may be, but I need you to run a little test. Using your recording that has the clicks, select a section of the tracks in between the clicks (left click and drag across the track). The selected area should be only the silence between switching on and switching off the microphon...

When I try to download the latest source with the command specified I get: cvs [checkout aborted]: connect to [audacity.cvs.sourceforge.net]:2401 failed: Connection refuse I'm updating at the moment and it is very slow. Re: Shortened WAV, still exports at original length
Are you sufficiently close to the development team that this is now in the bug list, or must some other reporting be done? As I mentioned, Audacity 1.2 is no longer being developed (it right on the edge of becoming obsolete). It's had a very good run and provided good service for millions of users ...

Then you will have read the last bit: "There is no guarantee your sound device will have an option to record computer playback - the inbuilt sound devices on many low-end Vista systems running Vista Home Basic often do not. If all else fails, try connecting a cable from the line-out (green) por...

Re: lengthen silences
Wow that works! I just tried it on a 55 minute track and it handled that fine. Wow that's a lot better than expected :D Would I be able to incorporate it into a chain?? Unfortunately no. Currently chains only support effects that are hard coded into Audacity. Improving Chains is another commonly re...
