Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
I don't want to write a software to interface with the sound card driver I'd certainly agree there - it's not something that I'd like to try either. .... to access audio samples. Audacity is designed to do so. but that's not really what you are doing - it is not "audio", it's "encode...

No-one here cans see your set-up or exactly what you are doing so you will need to give much more information.

Re: sound disappears
If the sound is completely missing from certain sections of the project, then you have possibly deleted or moved some of the data that the project was using.

-deleted the config file That will not work as you have previously had Audacity 1.2.6 installed. If the "audacity.cfg" file is completely deleted, Audacity will recreate it using the Audacity 1.2 settings (which are stored in the dreaded Windows Registry). Find the audacity.cfg file again...

Re: Recorded vocal pitch is way too low on playback
Try setting the default audio format to the same as the imported file. If the file is ripped from a CD then it will be 16 bit 44100Hz. In Audacity 1.2.x this is set in Edit menu > Preferences > Quality.

Do you still get noise if you completely disconnect the DJ mixer from the USB interface?

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
Why in this case my recorded audio cannot be "bit-transparent" ? Audacity does not obtain data directly from the hardware input. Audacity uses portaudio to interface with the computer sound system which accesses data from the input device via the sound card drivers. If you can write a sou...

Re: Help on resetting Album name
Edit ID3 Tags is under Project Thanks, quite correct. It's so rare that I use 1.2.6 I'd forgotten that  Just a note about id3 tag support in Audacity - it is per project, not per track. As many users use Audacity for multi-track projects, it would get extremely confusing if each track had it'...

Re: Audacity crashes when I use noise removal.
I checked my preferences again, and I don't seem to actually have the option you're talking about. Oh :? Newsflash: Audacity 1.3.11 was released today. I'm not aware of anything that specifically relates to the problem that you are having, but it does include several important bug fixes (and it sho...

Re: Cursor: getting it to stop at location when pressing sto
I can't see a time where that would be useful. Very useful for visually impaired users. the best you can do on the fly is get within one or two spoken words of your real edit point. If you've got your fingers on the keys ready, you should get within half a second or better, and then you can adjust ...
