Re: lame_enc.dll issue
I tried the method suggested by stevethefiddle 24/12/09 using the zip version of lame, and got it to work on my 1.3.10 install. Could this be the reason why my 1.3.11 install is now working?? Yes, that'll be it. Once Audacity knows where there is a compatible version of Lame, it writes down where i...

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
Is this version already available somewhere on the website ? Unfortunately Audacity can not be distributed with ASIO support due to licensing issues, but you can build it from source. More information here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/ASIO_Audio_Interface There has also been a recent forum po...

Re: How to check ASIO functionality after compile?
I think that Direct Sound support is included in Audacity as standard, so as long as you have the necessary drivers it should be available.
The standard Windows binary includes Direct Sound support so you could always just download the ZIP version of Audacity 1.3.11 from the Audacity web site.

Re: No Stereo -- One Channel Only
In Vista I believe there is an option in the Windows Control Panel to set recording to mono/stereo.

Re: How to check ASIO functionality after compile?
Congratulations
What's Audacity's performance like with ASIO? Any better than using Direct Sound? How does it compare with Cubase?
I thought that would be the case.catshout wrote:it shows ASIO devices/drivers only if an appropriate device is being connected ..

Re: Copy soundclip - Time Shift Tool
Audacity isn't a typical Windows application (it's Windows+Mac+Linux)
You can't copy using the time shift tool, but you can select the bit that you want to copy (double click with the selection tool) and then use the familiar (Windows) shortcuts of Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste.

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
I just saw that Audacity recorded format is AU files. Is this a 24-bit raw samples format ? No, it includes a header block and the bit format depends on the bit depth of the audio in the Audacity project. If you record in 32bit, then the audio data in the .AU file will be 32bit float, but if you re...

Re: headphones are connected but still comes out of speakers
Laptop PCs usually switch off the internal speakers when you plug in headphones. Desktop speakers usually do not.

Re: splicing mixer channels
With a bit of trickery you can record 2 channels, but not 4 channels. realtek alc888/1200 integrated audio card with two inputs (mic and line in) You should use the "Line in" and not the "Mic in". The Mic channel is for directly connection a microphone, but as you are using a mix...
