Re: USB Mic Disables Playback
Go into the Windows Control Panel. Windows has a bad habit of passing the entire sound system to the USB device, which is pretty stupid if it's a microphone or turntable as these are not capable of playback. Find the sounds/audio devices bit in the Windows Control Panel and set your sound card as th...

Re: Loud Static with External Microphone
Probably none of those. The hiss is probably from the sound card. If you are using the microphone input on a laptop PC they are notorious for really bad sound.Retconaddict wrote:is this a problem with my microphone, my cable, or a setting in Audacity?

You may have moved or deleted some of the data that the project was using. See here for how Audacity manages files: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/File_Management_Tips

Re: Syncing Audio & Video
I use Nero (CD/DVD burning software) which includes a video editor (in the full version) that is pretty easy to use and does quite a reasonable job. It's not free, but it's relatively inexpensive. It allows you to import an audio track and one or more video tracks. You can then edit the video tracks...

Re: iMic volume/noise issues
I can say for certain that the preamp is entirely at fault here. Lots of people have had the same problem. I would agree that the pre-amp is at fault, but it is not entirely the fault of the pre-amp. As you say, there are lots of reports of this problem with the Electro Harmonix 12AY7 Preamp. I wou...

Re: export as mp3
For Vista it is recommended that you use the latest 1.3.11 version of Audacity. Uninstall Audacity 1.2.6, then check that the audacity folder has been removed from the "Program Files" folder. If it has not been removed, delete it manually. When you have done that, download Audacity 1.3.11 ...

Re: Mixing Help
If you have one or more tracks selected (highlighted) and then press "Play", only the highlighted section will play. You can click once on a track to place the playback cursor without making a selection, and play will then start from the playback cursor position to the end of the recording...

Re: noise while recording
Well that looks correct, but I'm not clear about what your problem is. If you press the record button on Audacity and start playing the record, then I presume that Audacity starts recording and you see the recorded waveform appear on the new track in Audacity. Then you get a "strange noise"...
