Re: Recording via SKYPE
Skype cannot be recorded by Audacity using "Stereo Mix", because as soon as you launch Skype it switches off Stereo Mix. The best and easiest way to record Skype is to use one of the specialist programs such as Pamela et al. It is also possible to record Skype using a virtual sound ...

Re: left and right arrow keys don't work on 1.3.11
I've also noticed this intermittently - for some reason it seems that this version is prone to loosing "focus". I've not yet found a way to reproduce it at will and I was suspecting that it might have been my imagination. If you find a way to reliably reproduce the problem, please let us k...

Re: first 3 seconds records fine, then...
That is terrific :D It's the most dramatic demonstration of "Noise Cancellation" that I've ever seen. Somewhere in your sound card settings there should be a switch or selection box that allows you switch on/off the noise cancellation. It may be called something different (echo cancellatio...

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
For selecting analogue inputs, select them all and delete any tracks that you don't need (Audacity does not currently support channel mapping, so multiple channels always start at channel 1).
For selecting a digital input, sorry, no idea, you'll have to look at the sound card documentation.

Re: export as mp3
To install Audacity, double click on the file that you downloaded (it should be called "audacity-win-unicode-1.3.11.exe" ) You will probably get a warning from Windows asking if you are sure that you want to run it - if you do, say Yes. Follow on-screen instructions and click on "Next...

Re: Help with LAME MP3 Encoder Install
It is strongly recommended that people use up to date versions of Audacity. Obsolete versions will probably contain bugs and peculiarities that have long since been fixed. Unlike other MP3 encoders, Lame is still under active development with the constant aim of producing higher quality MP3 files. T...

The "headphone splitter" idea is probably going to be your best option.

Re: Help with fixing a poor quality interview
from listening to it IMHO you can improve it a lot. I would disagree. ;) While it's true that there are better noise removal tools than those in Audacity, the level of the quiet voice is not far above the level of the background noise and there is a considerable overlap in the frequency bands of ea...

Re: audacity.exe has encountered a problem and needs to clos
You could try using Audacity 1.3.11 The VST Bridge is not required for VST effects in Audacity 1.3.11, however the Fruity Loops VST effects will probably not work and may still cause problems. I don't know what FruitLoops have done, possibly some sort of anti-piracy protection, but they regularly ca...
