Re: Stereo Mic Input Versus Line Input

Stereo mics (usually) use mic level inputs just the same as ordinary mono microphones. They will often use the same kind of mini-jack as an ordinary mono computer microphone (with tip, ring and sleeve connections). Whereas a normal mono computer microphone uses the tip and the sleeve for the microph...

Re: Stereo Mic Input Versus Line Input

I did a little bit of Googling, and all that anyone says is that mic inputs are usually mono and that they might send a bit of power to the microphone. That's correct. There is usually a 5v supply on one of the contacts. The current should be limited to no more than a couple of milliamp so it is un...

Re: Record input extremely low

Well that's me out of ideas. I'll see if I can find an expert to ask about this.

Re: How do I Record Records using Audacity, But Faster?

If you have a turntable that will record at a faster speed (45 or 78 rpm) then you can record as normal and use the "Change Speed" effect on the recording to bring the recording back to normal pitch and speed. Warning: the sound quality will go down and wear of both the record and stylus w...

Re: Windows media player

I don't think that WMP supports 32 bit WAV files (by default).
In Audacity 1.3.11, the default export format is "16bit PCM WAV" which is supported by just about everything (including WMP).

Re: metadata and wav files

WAV files do not usually have metadata, however the format does include a "RIFF INFO chunk" that may be used for writing some track information. Details about the current (Audacity 1.3.11) implementation can be found here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/WAV#Metadata I don't know what iT...

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream

You're welcome, but it's not really "my" software - I've only contributed about 12 lines to the code and even then one of the developers had to make a couple of corrections to it :D In a sense, Audacity belongs to everyone. I just help out here on the forum because I love the program, I us...

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream

You probably mean that channel mapping doesn't work in the ASIO version, because using the "standard " Audacity I can select any of my inputs. No, actually I meant with the standard build. Your device must have exceptionally well behaved drivers because usually that does not work :) How c...
