Re: Download of "Manual".
Zip files are about the most reliable ways to distribute multiple files that will work on Windows, Mac and Linux (yes they do work on Linux - I use Ubuntu 9.04). Everything in it is a bit of a garble. The zip file contains one folder and in that there are a lot of html files. If the file has become ...

Re: Help!! Microphone Volume????
If you're on Windows, check in the Windows Control Panel and see if there is an adjustment for the recording level. Failing that, use the Amplify effect in Audacity (effects menu) to boost the level of the recording - the downside of this is that it will also boost background noise. Also, make sure ...

Re: Microphone Sound Quality
Are you sure that Audacity 1.3 is recording from your Azden WLX-Pro mic and not from the laptop internal microphone?

Re: Recording via SKYPE
Do you mean that skype grabs all the sounds settings when you install it? Closing off the skjype session should disable the 'skype' settings though. (or not?) Skype grabs the sound settings as soon as it is launched (even when just open in the background). You've probably noticed that when Skype is...

Re: USB device option not showing
MIDI is not audio - it's just controller messages for synths, sequencers and other MIDI devices/software.
Audacity is an audio editor - it does not understand MIDI.

Re: Waveform display won't scroll when right dragging
I'm not seeing that problem at all.
There's an easy workaround - zoom out.
If you have a wheel mouse, Ctrl+Wheel

Re: left and right arrow keys don't work on 1.3.11
I've built 1.3.12 CVS I've just built 1.3.12 from SVN The developers have just uploaded everything to SVN and I presume that CVS will be phased out shortly. To download from SVN: svn checkout http://audacity.googlecode.com/svn/audacity-src/trunk/ audacity and the keys don't work again Working perfe...

Re: Stereo Mic Input Versus Line Input
thus, one ring for mono and two for stereo. Just to be confusing, some stereo mics have 2 rings, in which case it's tip + one ring for signal, 2nd ring for 5v, sleeve for common (earth). Some stereo mics have just one ring as seen here (and the arrangement is as described previously): http://www.pr...
