Re: How to import a .pcm file from a dvd (OS X)?
Have a look on the Doom9 forum, they are one of the best resources on the net for this kind of thing. (it's where I go when I get stuck with DVD technology). They are mostly Windows orientated, but you may find some Mac stuff there.

Perhaps the DVD has a mono soundtrack, or perhaps it's copy protected?

Re: Refusal to burn........
Sounds like you're getting feedback. What are you trying to record from? If the microphone is selected and you have sound coming out through the speakers, the sound can go round and round, getting amplified each time 'till it screams. Check out the "Tutorials" links at the top of this page...

Re: Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift
The sliding pitch effect is not a Nyquist plug-in, it's a built in effect, probably written in C+. I don't know about that stuff. Nyquist is a scripting language and is pretty easy to get started with, though time warp functions are weird and still confuse me. But not to get put off, I'm sure we can...

Re: Refusal to burn........
Use the returns slip and send Windows Media Player back :D You're probably using a really old version of Audacity, so if we update that first it will make life much easier. Download and install Audacity 1.3.11 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ (no need to uninstall the previous version) W...

Re: Linux Fedora 10 truncated recording
Which version of Audacity do you have (Help menu > About Audacity)
Look in "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" (I'm assuming that you have Audacity 1.3.x and not 1.2.x) - What settings do you have in there?
Does you system use PulseAudio?
Do you have ALSA installed and working?
