Re: HELP!!!

Most (all?) USB turntables have a pair of analogue "phono" sockets that can be connected to a hi-fi amplifier. If you are able to test the output from these connections you will be able to determine if there is a problem with the cartridge, or cartridge wiring. I also notice that there is ...

Re: Sound trouble

Before you open Audacity, go to the Windows Control Panel and check your recording and playback devices. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Windows_Vista_OS#Using_the_Control_Panel_to_select.2Fenable_recording_devices Also check that other sounds are playing correctly through your speakers...

Re: Mastering and shit

If you have sufficient disk space, a useful way to make backups of projects is to use "Save As" and then give it a unique name. If the worst happens and either you or Audacity messes up totally, you have one or more versions of the project that you can go back to. To do this safely you mus...

Re: Put Handles on this.

:D A relatively safe way to try out new versions is with a "portable" set-up. "Audacity Portable" does not have to be on a USB stick, it can be in a folder on your hard drive - easy way to safely experiment with an alpha version without messing your production version. http://wik...

Re: Naming tracks on CD

Normal audio CDs do not contain track information. Some computer media players are able to display track information by reading identification marks on commercial CDs and looking them up in an on-line database. There is a variation of the normal audio CD format that allows "CD text" to be ...

Re: better quality LP recordings

A poor quality turntable will have more speed variation and will rumble more than a high quality turntable. A poor quality cartridge and stylus will not translate the groove vibrations as accurately as a good one. The quality of turntable, arm, cartridge, stylus, pre-amp, power amp and speakers all ...

Re: Equalizer curve advice

That page IS the user guide. The Dynamic Compressor was written and is maintained by Chris Capel. The information on his web site, an in the plug-in itself, is all the information there is. The main adjustment is the first one: "Compress Ratio" Increasing this increases the compression rat...

Re: How do I combine little files on a CD into a big file?

There is an audio format that has the extension ".au" but this extension is also used for Audacity data files. The Audacity data files are closely related to .au sound files, but are not the same. If these files are the result of recording in Audacity, then I think you are getting confused...
