Re: Distortion when recording from Stereo Mix
Ive tried turning up and down the volume, It depends on where you are turning down the volume. Are you using the Windows Mixer to adjust the record level? The recording level for Stereo Mix relies on both the Record Level of Stereo Mix, and the playback level of whatever is playing. Normally the pl...

Re: how to have a continuous volumelevel
An old version of Audacity could cause this. Are you using Audacity 1.3.11? I would recommend this version.butterflies wrote:What coul dcause this?

Re: Help with Roland EDIROL FA66 Audio Capture into Audacity
Cool, glad it's sorted. The mono/stereo thing is because of the way the sound card driver is written, so there's not much you can do about that. If you're getting one channel with sound and one channel without, you can use "Split to Mono" from the drop-down track menu (click on the track n...

Re: New user: Naming tracks
I found out that I could simply just go to the files in windows and correct the spellings. That's a nice easy workaround :) I'd still recommend giving Audacity 1.3.11 a whirl as there are also many other improvements. You can have 1.2.6 and 1.3.11 installed at the same time - the main limitation is...

Yes, just place the cursor at the beginning of the track and generate silence from the Generate menu.

Re: FFmpeg library not found
hen I pointed the "locate" to the Windows Folder that contained the three "avformat" dll as well as all other FFmpeg files: ... That got Audacity to use FFmpeg, If you use the Windows installer file for FFMpeg (follow the links from the Audacity web site http://manual.audacityte...

Re: how to have a continuous volumelevel
Probably the best way is to do it manually with the Envelope tool http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Envelope_Tool A quicker method is to "compress" the "dynamics" so that difference between the loud and quiet bits is less. There is a compressor effect in the Audacity...

Re: Audacity stops recording after 26 mins
Is this consistently at 26 minutes, or is it "on the hour", or is time before it stops variable?
Does Audacity appear to stop cleanly or crash?
Do you have power saving features (including screen savers) switched off?
Any other programs running, or in the background?

Re: Recording / Microphone
On Windows, most internal sound cards support hardware playthrough which typically give delays of well under a tenth of a second. To set it up you don't do anyuthing in Audacity, you just enable playback from that input in the Windows Mixer.

Re: Edit Markers
The way I would do that is to use SHIFT+A to stop playback and Ctrl+I to split the track - no need to use labels at all in that example.
