Re: Use Audacity as dj software

Audacity does not do "play lists".
Audacity does not do real time effects.
You can cross fade one track with another by importing the 2 tracks, line them up along the time line, then use the Fade Out and Fade In effects.

There is a comprehensive Help manual (see "Help" menu)

If that's too much, reduce the "Resonance" to less than 3

I think you can now upload WAV and MP3 files and possibly other audio formats, but there is still a size restriction (less than 1 MB).

Re: Converting stereo to mono

The other option is to click the little triangle next to the track name and choose Split Stereo Track, Audacity 1.3.x has an additional option - "Split Stereo to Mono" In Audacity 1.2.x, after splitting the stereo track, delete the silent track, then on the remaining track, click on the t...

Left click on vertical scale to zoom in vertically. Right click on vertical scale to zoom out vertically. The zoom buttons (magnifiers) are for zooming in/out horizontally. To switch from linear view to dB view on the vertical scale, click on the track name and select: "Waveform" for linea...

Re: Printable Audacity Manual

I'd be strongly against .doc format. It's a series of proprietary formats (copyright Microsoft) that regularly change in ways that break compatibility with non-Microsoft software as a "brand lock in" mechanism. While .pdf is dominated by Adobe (on Windows and Mac) it is an open format that...

Which version of Audacity are you using? (Help menu > About Audacity)

When you click on the name of a track, do you see a drop down menu?

Re: bug or feature ? fade out fade in :?:

When using the "Fade Out" effect from the Effects menu, the start point is an "amplification of x1" - or to put it another way - the start of the fade is identical to the original unprocessed sound. The end point is silence. If you are seeing something different then I think that...

Re: WMA to MP3

WMA = "Windows Media Audio"

You need to install FfMpeg for WMA support - as Koz said, Lame doesn't do WMA (Lame is for MP3 encoding)

Re: Burning CD Wdo 7 media player

Audacity Projects are not audio files. They are "projects" for working in Audacity.

See here for how to burn audio CDs http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/How_to_burn_CDs

I would definitely recommend using a dedicated CD burning program rather than Windows Media Player.
