Re: Running Audacity on an ultraportable
Not got direct experience, but we have had at least one user on the forum successfully running Audacity on an EeePC (sorry, I don't think they said which model). How much horsepower you need depends on the project - the more tracks you have the more oomph you need. I have a Pentium III 500MHz deskto...

Re: Error saving message
The message basically says ...Perhaps your disk is full. What nonsense in 2010! Yes indeed - a poor example of error messaging, but perhaps not quite as bad as: Stop 0x0000000A or IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Stop 0x0000001E or KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED As a Mac user VHF you will have been sheltered fr...

Re: Lost Everything But Project Folders - gutted !
(saved to WAV straight after " Exported " to WAV - we hear so much confusion between "Save" and "Export" that we become fanatical about using the right terminology :D and successfully edited, saved, closed, restarted opened, edited, exported so as things stand right no...

Re: Inserting Audio / Combining clips
I have the two audio pieces saved as MP3 files separately and I want to join them so that one is preceded by the other. 1) Open Audacity - (gives an empty Audacity project window) 2) Import both audio files - (you now have 2 tracks, one below the other). 3) Press the F5 key at the top of the keyboa...

Re: Is exporting WAV files lossless?
Then I thought, the original had the spike in the end of the track, and the edited not, In my example the comparison is between the track in Audacity (after editing) and the track Exported from Audacity (after editing). It sounds like you are comparing the track after editing, with the audio file b...

Re: EMU 0202 USB isn't recognised as recording device
the soundcard doesnt appear in that box either. If it doesn't appear then it's no-go (your computer does not know that it exists). Are you sure you have enabled "Show Disabled Devices"? If you have and it's still not showing, try rebooting the computer (do a full reboot, not just "go...

Looks good to me - a bit on the "Vintage" side, but nothing wrong with that. (I miss my beautiful old 1970's NAD amp

I then went to volume mixer and enabled the stereo Mix You mean that you enabled it in the Windows Control Panel? (as described here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Windows_Vista_OS#Using_the_Control_Panel_to_select.2Fenable_recording_devices ) Did you also (in the Windows Control Pan...

Re: using an external microphone
I'm having trouble getting the program to recognize that I'd like to use an external mic to record. When I plug it in, Windows Vista recognizes that the mic is plugged in, but Audacity still picks up the sound only from the built in microphone on the laptop. Is there a setting I need to change? Any...

Re: Is exporting WAV files lossless?
Do you know how I can check whether the rest is bit-identical? Here's a little "trick": (recent 1.3.x versions only) 1) Set Preferences to: Quality > Default Sample Format = 16bit, High Quality conversion > Dither = None. 2) Record your track. 3) Trim/edit as required - note than any &quo...
