Re: 1st track recording on 2nd track
Then in spite of what the Windows Control Panel is telling you, you are recording "Stereo Mix". Go back into the Windows Control Panel and check that the selected Recording input is set to "Line". If it is, then try some of the other settings (Mic, Aux, Mix... whatever is availab...

Re: 1st track recording on 2nd track
Both Audacity and Control Panel are already set to Line in/ Mic in. That may be what it says it's doing, but your description points strongly at your recording source being "Stereo Mix". There is a way we can test this to be certain: With your keyboard and headphones plugged in as normal,...

Re: Monitor while recording not working
In my experience, Software Playthrough on Linux is pretty useless due to a huge amount delay, or it not working at all. If you're recording from a USB microphone then you're out of luck. If you're recording from a conventional microphone, - this is the basic set-up: http://forum.audacityteam.org/vie...

Re: no mic audacity only Ubuntu 9.10
By default Ubuntu uses a powerful but rather complex sound system involving PulseAudio over the top of ALSA. To route audio through to an application it is necessary to have the input enabled and volume set in ALSA (through the normal ALSA mixer) and to have the audio stream routed from the sound ca...

Re: How to copy one track to another with same selection tim
If you have multiple tracks above/below each other and you have made a selection you can use the up/down keys to move focus from one track to the next. The selection can be toggled on/off with the Enter key. It can sometimes be useful to make "splits" in a track (Ctrl+I) - these can be joi...

Re: Is there a way
You've posted in the Audacity 1.2.x part of the forum, but I'm guessing that you are using a 1.3.x version?
Assuming I'm right;
Edit menu > Preferences > Import/Export
and switch off "Show Metadata Editor prior to export "

Re: Notch Filter Preference and Tinnitus
Audacity does not have a built in band reject filter, but here's a plug-in that will do it. bandstop.ny.zip [Updated version (1.1) here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=54196 ] To "install" the plug-in, just extract the "bandstop.ny" file from this zip file...

Re: Samson Q1U Microphone
It is usually the case that neither the Windows volume control, nor the Audacity volume control have any effect on USB microphones. Some USB microphones have a special "applet" for adjusting the "sensitivity" of the microphone. (Some USB microphones have an actual volume control ...
