Can you import the MP3 file into Audacity and play it?

How about having the stimuli recorded onto one track in Audacity and recording the response on another track? That type of thing is done all the time by musicians making multi-track recordings. You can get similar "band-stop" filtering with the Equalizer if you use the "Draw Curves" option. Note the slider bottom left has been lowered to the bottom to increase the amount of "cut". equalizer.png Post Reply > Upload Attachment (blue tab) > Browse > Add The File....

Those LADSPA plug-ins need to be installed (you will need to have Administrative permissions to install the software)

This is one of the many improvements in Audacity 1.3.11 - In version 1.2.x this cannot be turned off. In version 1.3.11 you can turn it off in Preferences:
"Edit menu > Preferences > Import/Export"
