Re: After X amount of Time, Audacity becomes unusable

every now and again for no discernible reason, the recording begin to sound clipped and chirpy. Could something be checking for updates (such as Windows Update, or your anti-virus updating) or some other scheduled maintenance task? When it next happens, try looking in the Windows Task Manager to se...

Or maybe I'll actually master Audacity and be able to help someone else out!
That would be terrific - the true spirit of community software :)

I found another answer where Windows might block it, it's set to allow.
Are you referring to "permission to access microphone"?

I looked around and I couldn't find anything that quite matched how to fix this problem,
Unfortunately I think it's not fixable.

Re: Audacity stops recording after 30-40 seconds

You might need to update your sound card drivers to use a later version of Audacity, but if Audacity 2.3.2 works for you, I'd suggest that you stick with that.

I did something different just recently, which was to request recovery of Audacity files when prompted.
I doubt that is related. I use project recovery very frequently while testing, and I've not observed any connection. Either way, there is no longer a lock file to be left behind.

Re: Difficulty finding downloads

I was using Audacity 2.2.1 as my "production" version for quite a long time. There are some enhancements in later versions, but I found that I could do everything that I needed with that version. Is there anything specific that you need from 2.4.2 that isn't available in 2.3.3?

Re: Audacity stops recording after 30-40 seconds

Do you know which version you were using previously? If so, then I'd suggest that you try that version. FossHub does not have 'all' previous versions. If your previous version is not available on FossHub, let me know and I should be able to find a copy for you. (Don't resort to random download sites)

Re: Is there available Audacity 64 bit ?

Wouldn't 32-bit VST plug-ins be backwards compatible, still work on the 64-bit version? The general rule is that 32-bit VSTs are for 32-bit hosts, and 64-bit VSTs are for 64-bit hosts. I would hope that when Audacity for Windows becomes 64-bit, the developers will be able to make a "VST bridge...

Re: Difficulty finding downloads

The reason that it is such a long list of redirections is because each page contains important information for users looking for different things. For the majority of Audacity users on Linux, all of this is irrelevant - just install Audacity with your package manager from the distro's repository. TL...
