Re: Crackling Noise Overdubs; Realtek/Windows Twilight Zone
My mode of procedure: .... I think that's the first full write-up of how to do multi-tracking that we've seen on the forum. Have you ever used a "wiki"? I think a write up of this on the Audacity wiki could be really useful. (possibly as a Tutorial? http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?...

Re: Crackling Noise Overdubs; Realtek/Windows Twilight Zone
That method looks about right. A few comments: In step (3) you don't say exactly what output you are using on the amplifier to plug into the computer "Line In" socket. Is it marked "Line Out", "AUX", "Headphone", "Speakers", or what? 1. Using Tux Gui...

Re: Whine on USB mixer only when Aud is monitoring
Well, I'm pretty sure I don't have tinnitus that's triggered by Audacity's monitoring function. :D LOL :D You're monitoring from headphones plugged into the Mixer? Can you route the Audacity output to your computers internal sound card and listen to Audacity through headphones plugged into the comp...
Re: No Sound
99% of us average people have no idea where windose control panel is or *which* panel you all keep referring to On XP, which is the Windowz that I've used most, it's pretty easy to find. Click on the "START" button (bottom left corner of the Desktop) and then click on "Control Panel&...

Re: Crackling Noise Overdubs; Realtek/Windows Twilight Zone
I don't think that it is covered in as much detail, though there is some information here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... trol_Panelwhomper wrote:is that info in the docs ?
and I think there's a bit more somewhere else though I don't remember exactly where.

Re: Recording help
The default for Audio I/O is; Playback : Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output Recording Device: Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input That will do fine for the settings in Audacity - The inputs and outputs are now controlled by Windows. Now you need to go into the Windows Control Panel and set the "defaul...

Re: Crackling Noise Overdubs; Realtek/Windows Twilight Zone
"Stereo Mix" (called "What U Hear" on SoundBlaster cards) enables you to record whatever is being played out of the sound card. It enables you to record sounds that are playing on the computer without needing to use a microphone or any other external routing. For example, if you ...

Re: newbie question about linear level gauge?
1. I turned off the line level R and L, and now I want it back on ? Cant seem to find where I can make it visual again on the tool bar? I'm not sure exactly what you mean - possibly the recording/playback meters, or the "Device Toolbar"? I'll go with whomper's guess - try "View menu ...

Re: Low CPU Usage
I read that Audacity does not support multiple processors, so I'm rather surprised that you are getting 25% on each core rather than loads on one and next to nothing on the other three. I've not seen any updates to suggest that multiple processors are supported yet. Could it be that Audacity thinks ...

Re: Single Channel Sound in Mix
Here's a test file for you.
Left channel = pulsating drone
Right channel = tone + clicking
This is definitely stereo.
