Re: Recording Issues
Did you say which version of Windows you are using? We need to ensure that Windows is recognising the turntable correctly, and how to do that depends on which operating system you are using.

Re: Ogg quality
It is kind of awkward to have an option hidden inside a Windows XP file explorer dialogue. It is more easily accessed there than when it was hidden away in Preferences, or at least it is when you are doing a normal "Export". The exception is when chains are used and I agree it would be mu...

Re: Jitter and Lag Problem
But I don't think the program file was corrupt initially because I used it for a considerable period of time. It's probably worth checking the hard drive for errors/bad sectors as koz suggested. Files should not go bad. I would also be doing a full system scan with my anti-virus program just to be ...

Re: SBLive! 5.1 - How to mute Line In to check playback...
That looks like one of the old SBLive 5.1 sound cards that uses the EMU 10k1 sound chip - a real bargain of a card - decent sound quality, fully featured and well supported by ALSA. While recording from a soundboard outputed to the soundcard LINE IN, I can't seem to make the LINE IN mute, so I can c...

Re: File rename command in a chain.
so I am looking for a step called "File Rename" in the list of commands that would rename *.ogg to *.oga. Audacity does not (currently) have that. If you need to rename a lot of files, you could use a "bulk rename utility" such as this one: http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Mai...

Re: Big Difference in Audio Quality (Microphone)
The background noise using this laptop is acceptable, especially when layered with music. On my new PC however, with Audacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode), the quality of recorded vocals is really terrible by comparison (basically unusable). That does not surprise me. I've got an old computer with an AC97 so...

Re: Stopped recording
Could you give more detail?
Type of computer, which version of Windows, what sort of "broadcasting", how are/were you recording, any other information that may help? Too much information is better than not enough.

Re: play not working
I just tried rebooting my computer and now the play button works correctly in Audacity! So it's something wrong with my computer not the program, I guess. If you are using a USB sound card (or USB turntable, USB microphone, or similar) then the problem is most likely that the USB device had not ini...

Re: Problems Recording with Sigma Tel sound card in Windows
heard about some other fixes using USB turntables, but I prefer to use a regular one for better sound quality. A wise choice IMHO. ;) Next, I researched if this was a problem associated with Windows 7 or the sound card, and most of the fixes that I saw said to set the default recording device to &q...

Re: EXPORT DIRECT TO ITUNES WITHOUT CREATING AUDACITY FILE
Make your recording then from the File menu select "Export as WAV". You can then add the WAV file to iTunes. Please try to avoid typing all in capitals. Common rules for e-mail[7] and USENET such as avoiding flamewars and spam are constant across most mediums and communities. Another rule ...
