OK, I'll move this to the 1.3.x part of the forum (you posted in the 1.2 part of the forum).
And which version of Windows? (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7?)
I should also have asked what you are recording from (a USB microphone? A conventional microphone plugged into a USB pre-amp? other?)

Re: mic for low frequencies
In the off-chance that Kinshoro is still looking for a practical alternative to the knowles acoustics sp0103be3, I'd like to pull the suggestion of a Panasonic WM-034BY (or equivalent) closer to the end of this meandering topic.

Re: Recording Issues
I hope I'm not repeating stuff that has already been said, but this thread is getting a bit long and difficult to follow. I've no idea what "McAudio" is so I don't know if it will be a problem, but as koz said, we need to try and get Windows to recognise the AK5371 or there's no show. Conn...

Re: How do I set the quality of the sound
It depends which version of Audacity you are using. Look in "Help > About Audacity" to find the Audacity version number.RabbiSinclair wrote:couldn't find compression bit rate in preferences. Maybe there's a different name?
also where do I set the bitrate?

Re: error message when trying to record
It means that Audacity cannot connect to your sound card.
Which version of Windows are you using?
Are you using Audacity 1.2.6?

Re: DIGITAL GLITCH WHEN RECORDING
It sounds like a USB issue. You're not using a USB hub are you? (USB hubs tend to perform badly with USB audio devices).

Re: Recording Issues
Try booting up your computer with the turntable disconnected and see if McAudio is still listed.

Re: File rename command in a chain.
From the Windows Command prompt you can use: ren *.ogg *.oga If you are unfamiliar with the Windows command prompt, here's what you do in Win XP: 1) START button > Run... 2) Type "cmd" (without the quotes) and click OK (opens a command window). This will open in your user space C:Documents...
