Re: Audacity Output Level

How do you set or know what voices peak at? ... I'm using a Dell Studio 17 Laptop with a Plantronics headset to record. A USB headset? When you record you should see a wiggly blue waveform appear on the recording track. The waveform should NOT touch the top or bottom of the track. Ideally it should...

Re: Plug Ins Not Appearing In List

There's a couple of possible reasons: 1) it is not a supported plug-in 2) It is a VST effect and you need to "refresh" the list of VST plug-ins. To refresh the VST effects list, go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Effects" and select "Rescan VST..." then restart Audacity.

Re: getting frustrated

i would rather this to of worked out b/c its free. The price is unbeatable :D (and it's also a really nice program to use - much simpler than many of the alternatives, but there is still a "learning curve"). i just need to spend some more time reading the users manual. What a refreshing c...

Re: Multiple Track Recording

Audacity has great difficulty capturing multi-track and I believe it still, in version 1.3, doesn't play them at all. Multi-channel support is limited, but: Audacity can play multi-channel files no problem, but they will play as mono or stereo only. If you record or import multi-channel audio into ...

Re: Stereo mix

See: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer WC While that will work with most simple ALSA/OSS set-ups, an increasing number of Linux distros are using PulsaAudio as the default sound server (notably PulseAudio is the default sound server for Ubuntu). That wiki pag...

Re: Stereo mix

You are probably not using Audacity 1.2.x If you look in Audacity "Help menu > About Audacity" it will say which version you are using. The drop down box in Audacity for selecting the input will often not work in Linux due to limitations of the sound card drivers, but the settings can stil...

Re: Classic Reverb in 1.3 (Beta)

To save typing everything twice I've deleted the duplicate post (I can move this topic later if it fits better as a "feature request).

Is "Classic Reverb a free VST effect? Can you post a link to where to get it from and I'll see if I can get it working.

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed

I could not find any setting of Noise Reduction that didn't remove that crisp, wispy delicacy of the fretwork, The big downside of Noise Removal. Since bgravato has a Linux machine: Gnome Wave Cleaner (available on Ubuntu through Synaptic) http://gwc.sourceforge.net/ has noise removal that is super...
