Re: Previous track records with new one...!?
If you open the RealTek mixer/control panel application and go to the "Mixer" tab you should see something similar to this: http://wiki.secondlife.com/w/images/6/6d/Torley-Realtek-settings.png In this example you can see that the "Mic" and "Stereo Mix" are both enabled....

Re: Recording Issues
I have decided to ignore the USB ports and try another method. This past evening I went out and purchased a sound card, which I installed and then I disabled the Sigma Audio Tel integrated sound. I then connected the turntable (which also came with RCA cables for left and right channels)... This is...

Re: new mixer bought trying to record
To record from the USB device you need to go to the Windows Control Panel and set the USB device as the default recording device. See here for details: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel When you have done that, open Audacity and go to "Edit menu > Pr...

Re: Recording cuts out after a pause
In spite of the name, Audacity 1.3.11 beta is more stable on many machines than the old 1.2.6 version. On Vista, Win 7 and the later Macs it is the "official" version to use. On Win XP it is less clear cut as 1.2.6 should work OK. 1.2.6 has been around unchanged for a long time (years) and...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
Perhaps you can find an easier way to find the noise floor as in the Noise Reduction profile technique. "See this sample? This is noise!" That is possible. I can think of a few alternative methods of doing this - take your pick and I'll have a go: 1) A small plug-in for "Find Peak/RM...

Re: 1.2.6 on Vista 32 sp2 poof crash on launch
So that we are starting from a blank sheet; Uninstall all versions of Audacity. Go to C:Program Files and delete any Audacity folders (there should be at least 2 - one for Audacity 1.2.x and one for Audacity 1.3.x) How comfortable are you with editing the Windows Registry? (you are aware that messin...

Re: Problem playing 1010LT Delta M Audio card
Audacity does not support ASIO drivers (due to licensing restrictions) so you must have Windows divers installed.
Use Audacity 1.3.11 and if necessary check in "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" to check that the M-Audio card is selected.
