Re: playing 2 different sounds in 2 different ears

Import the 2 WAV files into Audacity. Use the "pan" slider (below the track name, marked "L____R") to pan one track to the left and the other track to the right. You should now hear one track playing from the left side of your headphones and the other from the right. From the Fil...

Re: Error While Opening Sound Device

Try Audacity 1.3.11 - it supports a lot more hardware than the old 1.2.6 version. If that does not fix it, please post in the section of the forum that is appropriate for your operating system (Windows/Mac/Linux) and give a full description of your set-up including what sort of sound card/computer/o...

That's the classic position. :)

Re: Fine grained selection control when editing

For a start you need to turn "Snap To" off Important step that. As in graphics programs, snapping to a grid can be really useful, but if you want to precisely locate a point that is between grid positions you need to switch off "Snap To". I mostly use the mouse for moving around...

Re: Guitar solos Sound awful - hhhhelp!

Anyway I initially record the song itself on audacity - stick the recording option from 'mic' to 'stereo mix', No, you don't want the "Stereo Mix" option. It depends what sort of microphone you are using, but if it's just a microphone plugged into the microphone socket of the computer the...

While this will probably be redundant for you bgravato when you get your new pre-amp, I've finished the new version of the Noise Gate. @ Koz, since you have experience with noise gates I'd be particularly interested in how you get on with this one - it's even got a gizmo for measuring the noise leve...

Re: SSM2019 monolithic pre-amp chip

I used to work in the manufacture of semi-conductors for the MOD - they have extremely tight specifications, but that did not mean that the components were necessarily any better than lower spec. "off-the-shelf" equivalents. It just meant that the specifications were higher and in the case...

Re: piano sounds great going in, lousy in Audacity

The entire track has a cut-off not much over 15kHz, which seems a little strange, even for an MP3. 48000Hz/224kbps should give frequencies to over 18kHz. Where/when is the frequency being limited, or is that just the band-width of the drum machine? Have you got a recording of the piano, on it's own,...
