Re: piano sounds great going in, lousy in Audacity
Is it in stereo at the mixer and mono in Audacity -- I mean there may be two channels, but they're identical? .... The production echo and flavor of the performance may go flat. I suspect that is exactly what is happening - now waiting for Jim to confirm. Until this gets resolved, I would avoid odd...

Re: compressed wav IMA ADPCM, 22050Hz, 4-bit, Mono.
You need Audacity 1.3.11 and you need to install FFMpeg.
It's easier to use a more specialised format trancoder such as SUPER by erightsoft.
Foobar2000 is another great (free) audio player that allows you to transcode most audio formats and is probably the easiest for doing this.

Re: piano sounds great going in, lousy in Audacity
That sounds pretty good to me, though I don't know what sound you are expecting. It may be that the difference/lack of quality is simply that when you are listening to the piano "direct" you are listening in stereo, but when you record, you are recording in mono. There's a few things that ...

Re: playing 2 different sounds in 2 different ears
but the actual hardware reproducing the sound may allow some leakage from each side to the other and the user may be deaf in one ear, or completely deaf, or may be playing back through a mono guitar amp, or through a telephone... but these things are outside of the control of what can be done by Au...

but I'm back! Oh dear :? (only joking :D ) Can I use my skype headset for the microphone test? Yes, you should be able to, I see no reason why not, but.... Skype must NOT be running. Skype is known to cause problems with Audacity and should not be running, not even a bit, not even a tiny bit in the...

Re: export multiple to new folder
First you should update Audacity. 1.3.10 has a known problem that can cause exported files to be the wrong length - typically when using "Export Multiple" based on labels, the exported files will be a few seconds too long. This has been fixed in Audacity 1.3.11 Regarding the problem you de...

Re: Record Out and In at the same time
You need to record "Stereo Mix" (may be called "Wave Out", "Sum", "What U Hear" or "Loopback"). Not all sound cards support recording from the output - it requires that both the sound card and the sound card drivers support this option. There is a co...

And what about Skypecap? Not so long ago I wrote here about this program, but i dont see my message. Someone (you?) wrote about Skypecap so many times that it triggered the spam filter and all of the posts were deleted. The person posting (you?) were warned that your posts were beginning to look li...

Re: How do you loop a track?
I want to take a 5 minute voice recording and loop it for 45 minutes, so that it keeps repeating itself. 1) "File menu > Import Audio" or record the 5 minute voice recording 2) Trim off any excess sound or silence from the track. 3) Select the sound that you want to repeat - you can selec...
