Re: New plugin "Super Bass Cut"

@ Ctrl+N - Do the code examples make sense to you? It was rather late when I posted that so the explanations are rather brief, but glancing through it again I think it will make sense if you look at it alongside the Nyquist function reference: http://www.audacity-forum.de/download/edgar/nyquist/nyqu...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed

The MicPlug is considerably better than using the internal mic on my laptop, and a lot more convenient (and probably safer) than having a big chunky XLR plug with an XLR to mini-jack converter hanging out of the side of the laptop. For anyone that has a grown-up microphone (XLR) lying around and wan...

Is that what Americans refer to as a curveball ;)

Re: Guitar solos Sound awful - hhhhelp!

I mean I recorded the initial backing SONG with the stereo mix option - it sounds good. I'm not sure that I would agree. YouTube doesn't do any favours to audio, in fact it goes a long way toward wrecking sound, but the Marvin Gaye sounds really thin, like recording from a pocket radio from 20 pace...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed

Yes there's some stereo reverb - hope I didn't overdo it - I've just got back from a gig and my ears haven't fully recovered yet (it was loud ... and hot). I used the "Calf reverb" (a LADSPA effect - I think it is currently only available for Linux, - the Calf effects are pretty nice and a...

Re: piano sounds great going in, lousy in Audacity

Did you add that spacialization/verb in Audacity? Yes, I used "Calf reverb" - I think the "Calf" LADSPA effects are currently only available for Linux, but there are other reverbs available for other platforms. The main objective was to restore some "width" to the soun...

Re: New plugin "Super Bass Cut"

nobody wants to do heavy bass cut at 420 cycles Let's all try to maintain some decorum - perhaps you could look to see what Ctrl+N's code does rather than telling him what he should or should not be doing. Even if you don't understand the code you could try using it. It does not do heavy bass cut a...

Re: New plugin "Super Bass Cut"

My comment was not meant as a criticism, and certainly not in a disparaging sense. It was more of a query. Having looked at the code and run the effect I was having trouble imagining the circumstance in which it would be most useful. You are absolutely correct that ALL noise suppression will take aw...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed

So what's that - 200% over budget? Oops - but not a penny wasted :D Very nice indeed. If I was going to be hyper critical, you may need a new chair - is that sound at 31.7 seconds a wooden chair creaking? It's pretty late here, but I've had a little play with the recording (hopefully you won't find ...

Re: piano sounds great going in, lousy in Audacity

I cheated : I added extra high frequencies using Steve's vocal exciter ... It's nice to know that someone is using it, but I don't know that I would really recommend it - to my ear it's a bit rough - written more as a "proof of concept" than a high quality effect. And all that could be su...
