Re: Editing and exporting a mp3, small empy space on beginni
That is a limitation of the MP3 format - it does not exactly define the start of the audio. If you need to define the beginning of the audio exactly you need to use a different file format such as WAV, Ogg, Flac or AIFF.

Re: Linux Ubuntu, dual boot installation problem during part
You would probably do better to ask on the Ubuntu forum. Whenever I've installed Ubuntu I've had the option available for "guided partitioning". Just as a couple of general tips - Ensure that you have all of your data backed up before you attempt a dual boot install. You could try manually...

You've not said which version of Audacity you are using and you've not told us anything about the computer hardware that you are trying to run it on.
I'm wondering why you are running an obsolete operating system - Windows 98SE was declared obsolete by Microsoft years ago.

Re: How Do I Overwrite Left Track with Right Track
You need to "split" the track into 2 tracks. As you are intending to end up with a "mono" track, there is probably no need to take the extra steps to finish with a "2 channel mono" track. Just click on the track name (in the box on the left end of the track) and from th...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
Calf Reverb is a stereo effect, so if you apply it to a "2 channel mono" track, the result will be stereo. Starting with a single mono recording: 1) Make a duplicate of the track (Ctrl+D) 2) Make a second duplicate of the original track. (you now have 3 tracks - if you have 4 tracks it's b...

Re: Using preset Equalizations
The "Amplify" effect may be used to make tracks quiter as well as louder. If you enter a negative amount into the amplify effect it will "negatively" amplify - that is it will make the audio in the track quieter. If you apply the amplify effect to all tracks, then the "balan...

Re: piano sounds great going in, lousy in Audacity
The trouble with playing against a metronome is that metronomes never keep time :D (or at least it seems like that). It is a task that is much harder than most folk would imagine, until they try to do it. There WILL be a delay between you playing a note and it being "written" to the hard d...

Re: Out-of-Phase click
You don't necessarily have to listen to each and every click that you have repaired on a one-by one basis. If you run a click repair tool over a lot of clicks you can just play a representative sample. I think the point that waxcylinder is making is that it does not really matter that much what the ...

Re: Installation
No worries alphatango - I saw the CassetteMate literature and see that it could easily be misinterpreted. We occasionally get a similar "irate customers" that use other commercial products that have bundled Audacity (often out of date versions of Audacity and with incorrect instructions). ...
