And at the top of the stairs ;)
Have you thought about putting a safety strap round the mic/mic stand - perhaps it's the photographs, but it looks pretty close to the edge :?

Re: compressed wav IMA ADPCM, 22050Hz, 4-bit, Mono.

The point of posting in the Unix forum was because as Ubuntu is my main PC these days, and my WinXP PC is in the cold back-room, I'd like to do the audio conversion on Ubuntu with Audacity. Ah - that explains it :D I did wonder, though it is not uncommon for people to post in the wrong place. I thi...

Re: Help Using External Microphone

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed

It's pretty impressive that you are getting such low noise from what is still a relatively "budget" pre-amp - that's quite a distance between the mic and the guitar, but it shows very well how it is able to pick up the whole of the guitar sound and some room ambiance. I presume that you st...

Re: How to tell if I've got usb 2.0 or 1.1?

Standard installations of Audacity 1.3 now include a help file. It is also available on line here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Main_Page There are still a few gaps in the documentation, but overall it is pretty comprehensive. Additional documentation can be found using the links a...

Re: Hum removal plug-in

There is no really satisfactory way to control the "depth" of a notch as far as I can see. The Q factor controls the "width" of the notch (the frequency spread at a specified attenuation level). This looks like it affects the "depth" (when viewed on the Spectrum Analysi...

Re: How to tell if I've got usb 2.0 or 1.1?

unfortunately my own device manager usb-tree differs from yours and doesnt hint at 2.0 like yours do. It's possible that you don't have the necessary USB 2.0 drivers installed. Check that you have all the latest drivers for your motherboard - you should be able to get them from the MSI web site. US...

Re: Selection via keystrokes?

I need to split up a waveform into precise chunks of 5 seconds... There's an easy way of doing that in the current Audacity 1.3, but not in Audacity 1.2 I'd definitely recommend upgrading to Audacity 1.3 as it has many enhancements that I'm sure you will find useful. If you already have Audacity 1....

Re: FFmpeg library not found

It's a bit of a pain for us Linux users - you need to use a VERY up to date version of FFMPEG.
Try using a subversion snapshot from here: http://ffmpeg.org/download.html

(I'm currently using 52.36)
